Arles Image Web Page Creator 7.3 released
The new Arles 7.3 version adds a new 3D projection image effect, improved movie support, crop to fit options and several other features.

To add a 3D projection to your images, open the Image Effects window, click the Add button and select 3D projection. You can specify the projection amount and also if you want to randomize the effect per image.

The resample option lets you select advanced resample algorithms like Lanczos 3 or Mitchell. This will make sure the final images have the highest possible quality. Even high end image editing applications do not support Lanczos 3 resampling for rotations or transformations.
Play movies
For some time creating online galleries with movies was already possible. New is that you can play movies in the Arles Image Explorer itself. To make movie thumbnails stand out from normal images the Arles Image Explorer shows with a special movie icon in the lower right corner.

Arles uses Windows to decode the movies that are played. Out of the box Windows does not support many movie formats. If you come along movies that Arles cannot play (you will get a warning saying to make sure the correct codecs are installed) install the K-Lite Standard package. It will install codecs (the piece of software that decodes the movie) for all popular movie formats. Making sure your movies will play properly in the Windows Media Player and the Arles Image Explorer.

Crop to fit options window
Arles has had a Crop to fit option on the Thumbnails tab of the Web Page Creator window for some time. It will make the image fit exactly the specified thumbnail height and width by cropping off edges that don't fit. New is that you can now specify the crop position. Set the both horizontal and vertical positions to 50% if you want the center of the image to remain. If the important areas of your images are located at the top, set the vertical position to 0%.

Preloading images improvements
The Arles Image Web Page Creator has a preload option for image pages. When selected the next image in a gallery is loaded in the background while the visitor is looking at an image page. As a result the next image page will load very quickly, often instantaneously, even when the visitor has a slower Internet connection.
Galleries created with Arles 7.3 will now also load the first image in the background when a visitor is looking at the index page.
Other changes
- Resample option added for Rotate and 3D projection image effects. Allowing you to get the best possible quality for rotated images, as the new pixels are now calculated using Lanczos3 or Mitchell resampling algorithms.
- Several improvements to popup style galleries. The popup will automatically resize to a smaller size even if the gallery visitor is using a very small screen. And when the popup image is set to link to the next image, the popup is automatically closed when the visitor clicks the last image.
- Ground reflection effect now has a Vertical space option to make the image hover above the ground.
